Consmema produced several moulds to Martens for the purpose of the Container Exchange Route (CER). The CER is a new road intended only for the transport of containers between the unloading quay and various companies on Maasvlakte 2, the extension of the Rotterdam harbour area. The CER is a combination formed by Royal VolkerWessels companies KWS and Van Hattum and Blankevoort.
In total, over 1,500 precast peripheral elements were produced, variants with sides that are straight, ascending and descending. The elements had to meet high, architectural, requirements.
Our relationship with Martens provided the opportunity for Consmema to get involved in the project at an early stage. Joint thought was given to the necessary concept of the moulds. Consmema then engineered and built the moulds. The final design of made it possible to pour different types of elements into one mould without compromising on quality and workability.
